About

Jack Barben has been playing music his whole life and teaching it for nearly thirty years. He got his start early—directing bands and choirs as a teenager, then studying piano, voice, and trombone in college, including piano at the Peabody Conservatory. He's directed music in churches for over twenty years, maintained a private studio for twenty-five, and continued exploring along the way: creating choirs and ensembles, immersing himself in traditions from around the world.
All of it pointed here.
At Creative Kids, children make real music from day one. They jam, improvise, compose, and perform—not after years of preparation, but as the way in. Professional musicians play alongside them, modeling what can't be taught with words. Groove comes before theory. Listening before reading. Feel before technique.
Your child is already a musician. We help them discover that.
From their first session, they're inside the music—playing in flow with others, making real choices, alive in it now. Something shifts—in what they can do, and in who they know themselves to be. And what they build here—confidence, presence, the ability to show up with others—reaches far beyond any instrument.
Our Home
Creative Kids Music Project is hosted at St. Luke's / San Lucas Episcopal Church in the heart of Vancouver—a community that shares our belief in the formative power of music, nature, and creativity.

The Creative Kids Music Project is an invitation—to hear more, to notice more, and to bring more of ourselves to the world.
